Het quintiel

Dit aspect beslaat 72 graden en hangt samen met de 5e harmonische. De quintielreeks omvat ook het halfquintiel (36 graden), het anderhalfquintiel (108 graden) en het biquintiel (144 graden). John Addey brengt de hele quintielenfamilie in verband met misbruik van macht en gezag en volgens Addey is er een samenhang tussen de aspecten van deze reeks en een uitgesproken neiging tot eenzijdige belangstelling en een sterke gedrevenheid tot specialisatie. In een van zijn onderzoeken bleek de destructieve kant de quintielserie sterk naar voren te komen in de horoscoop van mensen die crimineel gedrag vertoonden, slachtoffers van geweld, revolutionaire figuren (zoals Robespierre, Danton) en dictators (o.a. Hitler). De constructieve kant kwam positief tot uiting in de horoscopen van schrijvers, kunstenaars (Mozart) en wetenschappers (Einstein).

Volgens sommige esoterische stromingen zouden quintielen al bekend zijn gewest bij de Ingewijden van de oude mystieke scholen, en zouden in verband zijn gebracht met hermetische magie. Het quintiel zou een weerspiegeling zijn van de vereiste overeenstemming tussen de ziel van de horoscoopeigena(a)r(es) en de Kosmische Wil. Het getal 5 wordt gesymboliseerd door het pentagram of de vijfpuntige ster. De met de punt naar boven gerichte pentakel symboliseert een creatieve, spirituele door het verstand gefilterde kracht, en de met de punt naar beneden wijzende pentagram toont een destructieve, remmende kracht in het ontwikkelingsproces. Deze symboliek kan verklaren dat het quintiel mogelijk de kracht van onze geest weerspiegelt, die kan scheppen en vernietigen.

Volgens de numerologie heeft het getal 5 te maken met basisthema's zoals vrijheid, rusteloosheid, veranderlijkheid, experimenteerlust, doorbreken van grenzen en routines. Het septielaspect correspondeert met de 7e harmonische en beslaat 51 graden, 25 minuten en 43 seconden. Door de eeuwen heen is het getal 7 in verband gebracht met heilige en gewijde zaken. Ook de numerologie geeft aan het getal zeven een occulte betekenis zoals het zoeken naar (zelf)kennis en universele wijsheid. Zeven is het getal van meditatie, contemplatie en afzondering. Volgens John Addey toont de 7e harmonische en de septielserie ons vermogen om inspiratie te ontvangen. Letterlijk stelt hij dat de septiel mogelijk verwijst naar "het vermogen om het verborgen geheel achter de onderdelen van een onderwerp aan te voelen" en "het vermogen om verstandelijk het vormgevende idee of principe achter de dingen te bevatten en zo deel te hebben aan de dynamische energie die met dat idee samenhangt". Uit onderzoek van Addey is naar voren gekomen dat de 7e harmonische vooral sterk naar voren komt in horoscopen van geestelijken en anderen die als een soort "priester" fungeren. En evenals de quintielserie is ook de septielserie duidelijk aanwezig in horoscopen van beeldend kunstenaars zoals Picasso, Raphaël, Leonardo da Vinci, Cézanne, Rodin, Matisse en Modigliani, en musici als Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Berlioz, Wagner en Tsjaikovsky. Ook werd de 7e harmonische geaccentueerd aangetroffen in de horoscopen van George Bernard Shaw, Yeats en Lewis Caroll. Het onderzoek laat tevens zie dat deze harmonische bijzonder sterk opvalt in de horoscoop van romantische dichters zoals Blake, Shelly en Lord Byron. Enkele andere creatieve en geïnspireerde denkers met deze harmonische geaccentueerd zijn Immanuel Kant en Albert Einstein.

Het noviel

Het novielaspect vertegenwoordigt de 9e harmonische. De numerologie brengt het getal 9 in verband met Neptuniaanse principes, het is het getal van onbaatzuchtigheid en komt tot uitdrukking in zaken als mededogen, vergevingsgezindheid, vrijgevigheid, en de bereidheid persoonlijke offers te brengen. Evenals het getal 7 is 9 het getal van spirituele voltooiing en vervulling, het is allesomvattend en houdt verband met onafgemaakte zaken omdat het de laatste fase van de levenscyclus symboliseert. Het noviel zou kunnen duiden op een "spirituele wedergeboorte" of op een inwijding op het terrein wat door de betreffende planeten wordt aangegeven. Het is moeilijk informatie over het noviel te vinden, het lijkt erop dat de novielserie in ieder geval te maken heeft met een subtiele, mystieke invloed.

Een voorlopige conclusie van de werking van het novielaspect zou kunnen zijn dat dit een aspect is dat de diepte van onze vermogens aftast en op een veelal onbewust niveau zijn uitwerking heeft. Het noviel toont ons potentieel om de zin der dingen te ontdekken.

Het half- en anderhalfvierkant

De cirkel wordt door 8 gedeeld en beslaat een hoek van 45 graden. De betekenis van het halfvierkant lijkt -evenals die van het anderhalfvierkant (135 graden)- op een verzwakte werking van het vierkant. Dit aspect heeft dus een enigszins disharmonische uitwerking en kan spanningen oproepen en irritaties wekken.

Het half- of semisextiel

De horoscoopcirkel wordt door 12 gedeeld en dit aspect beslaat een boog van 30 graden. Het halfsextiel (soms ook semisextiel genoemd) wordt beschouwd als een zwak uitwerkend harmonisch aspect, je zou het dus kunnen interpreteren als een zwak uitwerkend sextiel, maar de stuwkracht van dit aspect is zo minimaal dat we er zelden een uitwerking van ondervinden.

Het inconjunct of quincunx

Dit aspect beslaat 150 graden en wordt ook wel quincunx genoemd. Het inconjunctieaspect verbindt tekens met elkaar die meestal als lastig verenigbaar worden beschouwd zoals vuur en aarde, aarde en lucht, lucht en water en water en vuur. Bovendien zijn er verschillende kruisen in betrokken: hoofd en beweeglijk, beweeglijk en vast, vast en hoofd. Het inconjunct heeft dan ook een polariserende werking, maar conflicten veroorzaken hier niet zo'n crisisachtig gebeuren als bij een vierkant het geval is, en ook is het overzicht waarvan bij een oppositie sprake kan zijn bij het inconjunct niet aanwezig. Dit aspect heeft meer te maken met iets dat ons gedurende langere tijd dwars kan zitten. Het kan voor ons gevoel lijken dat een bepaald soort dilemma ons nogal plotseling het leven zuur komt maken, maar wanneer we er achteraf op terugkijken zien we meestal dat het probleem al veel langere tijd 'onderhuids' aanwezig was.

The lunar nodes are represented by a horseshoe symbol. The horseshoe is open on the bottom for the north node and open on the top for the south node.The lunar nodes, north and south, are not real planets. Lunar nodes are points that mark the intersection of the Moon's orbit around the Earth with the ecliptic path. The ecliptic is the illusory path of the Sun as it revolves around the Earth during a year. Actually, it is the Earth's circle around the Sun in the annual orb.The nodes are merely the interception of these two orbit lines. One when the Moon is passing south to north, and the other when Moon is passing north to south.All the planets form nodes but only the Moon's are considered significant enough to be included in horoscopic analysis.

The North Lunar Node is the point at which the interception is made while the Moon is ascending from the south to the north. Hence it is also called the Ascending Node. In Hindu astrology it is called the Dragon's Head . The South Lunar Node is also known as the Descending Node or the Dragon's Tail. These two nodes are always exactly opposite of one another.

When the Sun and Moon are in conjunction, and either lunar node is also in conjunction with both, a solar eclipse occurs. When the Sun and Moon are in opposition, and each is in conjunction with one of the lunar nodes, a lunar eclipse occurs.

The north node is viewed a point of opportunity for growth and development, while the south is thought to represent karmic repression or tendencies that restrict growth. The north node carries the positive tone of Jupiter, while the south node expresses the restrictions of Saturn. The north node represents positive objectives and the south node denotes the easy way out with little opportunity for growth.The lunar nodes travel backwards at the rate of about 3 minutes a day. The 30 degrees alloted for each zodiac house can be divided into three groups of ten degrees each as 0 to 9 deg, 10 to 19 deg and 20 to 29 deg. These divisions are termed as Decanates.
